Huge thanks to the hosts and my fellow guests for making 2025 Week 1 absolutely unforgettable! It was truly an experience of a lifetime—lots of laughs, some epic off-piste powder riding days, and priceless photos and videos to relive it all.
TJ, Yuji, and Daisuke, you guys (and Sophie) are next-level hosts! Your dedication to making sure every guest had the best experience possible was above and beyond. From sharing your deep passion for snowboarding to creating an all-around amazing vibe, you absolutely crushed it.
If you've never been to Japan, this is the ultimate introduction to the legendary Niseko region, its breathtaking surroundings, and Japan’s rich cuisine and mystical culture. I can't recommend it enough!
This trip was amazing. I can not say enough great things about my week in Japan. The snowboarding, snow, and guides were TOP NOTCH.
TJ, Yuji, and Daisuke were like 3 Gandalfs (Lord of the Rings reference) who knew everything about where to ride and when to ride it, and dropped helpful, knowledgeable tips on how to ride it since most of us had no clue where to go and never really experienced riding deep snow like that.
Everything was planned and worked out great from getting up and heading out the door to the different dinners we had planned every night. FOOD WAS AMAZING! I would call myself somewhat of a picky eater, but I had nothing to worry about.
I highly recommend going through Board Archive if you want to properly experience JaPOW (weather permitting) . I can very confidently say I am already working on getting back to Japan and doing another week or 2 with TJ and the gang.
if it was possible to give this 10 stars, I would.
This trip was an extremely meaningful one for me as I had gone through a lot the few months leading up to it and wanted to start 2025 in the best way possible.
To say this trip did just that is an understatement. All of my friends and family asked how it was and the easiest way to describe it to them was that not a single thing went wrong. It almost felt like a perfect trip, from the amazing people in our group who made every second memorable, to the life changing Japow we got to experience, to the amazing food and experiences outside of riding that made the trip that much better.
Meeting TJ was a dream come true as I’ve watched him on YouTube from the very first day I started snowboarding over 8 years ago. He was the main host of the trip alongside Yuji (and his awesome wife Sophie) and Daisuke. Yuji got us so many amazing photos and Daisuke is a professional snowboarder for K2, but more importantly they’re all absolute legends. They’re all so down to earth that it doest’t really feel like they’re the hosts. Only a day into the trip I already felt like I could call them friends and it made all of our trips that much better being with such great company.
I’d also like to give a shoutout to TJ for waking up at 5am to take me to the train station on the last day. We couldn’t get a taxi to come that early and he was nice enough to take me and declined any offers I had to pay him. If that doesn’t tell you how much they care about making your trip a good one, I’m not sure what else will.
I have traveled the world and been on some incredible trips in my life, and this one will always stick out to me with how special it ended up being. I have so much to say about the trip and how meaningful it was to me, but there’s not enough words to describe how great it was. I’ll be back again TJ, that’s a promise!
(Try the shirako if you dare, you’ll make everyone laugh at the very least)
I can't say enough good things about my week in Japan with Board Archive:
Snowboarding: Obviously the resorts were incredible (it's JaPOW!), and where we would ride the next day was determined by the weather forecast. On day 1, the guides had us ride all 4 resorts at Niseko, day 2 we were at Niseko again, day 3 at Kiroro (optional backcountry with PPP), day 4 at Rusutsu, day 5 at Moiwa. We got lucky during week 1 with the weather - bluebird days in the beginning of the week, lots of fresh pow at the end.
Guides: TJ, Yuji, and Daisuke were amazing. They made sure everyone was safe and having fun at all times. They also knew the terrain extremely well at all of the resorts so we had the best riding experience every day. Yuji is also an amazing photographer and took incredible photos for each of us. All of the guides made the trip memorable and enjoyable.
Lodging & Transportation: We stayed at a lovely lodge 3 minutes away from Niseko, and the group (plus our gear) was shuttled around in some very sturdy vans.
Other Activities: The riding was the main attraction, but TJ and Yuji also planned other activities. We went to a charming seaside town called Otaru, had the best food every day, visited Gentemstick, tried the famous Hokkaido dairy products, some group members went to an onsen, etc. These other activities really added to the trip and helped us get the most out of our time in Japan
Overall: I wish I could give this trip more stars. Absolutely recommend it.
